Hearing Aid Council: freedom of information review

October 2006

Chris O’Leary undertook a freedom of information and data protection review for the Hearing Aid Council, the statutory registration and regulation body for hearing aid audiologists in the UK. The aim of the review was to determine whether the Council had established and followed appropriate policies and procedures to meet its statutory responsibilities under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and to put in place appropriate arrangements if necessary. The report was consider by Council members at their meeting in November 2006, and its recommendations are currently being implemented.
